Hyundai Ioniq 5
Is the Hyundai Ioniq 5 a good car?
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 is one of the most striking-looking electric cars out there, but it is more than just squared-off lines and sharp angles – it’s out to take on the likes of the Volkswagen ID.4 and Ford Mustang Mach-e.

Despite those ‘late ‘80s videogame’ looks, it is more than just a basic hatchback. It hides its size well, and is actually the size of a family SUV, which means you get loads of room inside for people and luggage alike.

Those futuristic looks aren’t restricted to the outside, either, with the interior continuing the stylish minimalist theme. There are two large, high-res screens up on the dash and a load of really nice feeling materials dotted around. Sure, some aren’t quite up to the same standard – the odd button here and there and the ‘gear’ selector up by the side of the steering wheel to mention a couple – but the overall feeling is that this is a really posh cabin.

2023 Volkswagen ID.8
Although we haven't seen any images of it yet, Volkswagen has confirmed a three-row SUV will soon launch on its electric-vehicle architecture. The family-friendly SUV will be called ID.8 and we expect it to share styling with the slightly smaller ID.6 (shown above) that was unveiled for the Chinese market. The ID.8 will be much larger than the ID.4, putting it into contention with mid-size SUVs. It will have three rows of seats and seating for up to seven riders. Rear-wheel drive will likely be standard, but a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive arrangement will probably be optional. It's currently unclear how big of a battery Volkswagen will offer here, but in China buyers of the smaller ID.6 can choose either a 58.0- or 77.0-kWh pack, with a driving range of up to 365 miles with the larger of the two. Given the popularity of three-row crossovers, VW would be wise to bring the ID.8 to market soon, and we expect to see it as a 2023 model.

Cadillac Lyriq
What is the Lyriq?
The 2023 Cadillac Lyriq is the brand's first all-electric vehicle and the vanguard of a bunch of new EVs from parent company General Motors. It's considerably bigger than the Chevrolet Bolt and has a long, wagon-like profile. Think of it as being a little longer but a little shorter than a Subaru Outback. Besides being all-new, the Lyriq also introduces a new generation of battery technology and Cadillac's latest technology features.

The limited-edition Lyriq Debut Edition starts at $59,990, while the more mainstream versions will begin at $62,990 (both prices include destination). Within Cadillac's SUV lineup, that puts it between the XT6 midsize SUV and the Escalade.

BMW iX
Is the BMW iX a Good SUV?
Yes, the brand-new BMW iX is a good SUV. Its dual-motor powertrain delivers energetic acceleration and plenty of power, and the iX’s range tops out at 300 miles. Though not as sporty as the typical BMW, the iX handles well, and it provides a polished ride. The cabin is absolutely top-notch, with superlative build quality, sumptuous seats, and plenty of room for people and cargo. The laundry list of standard features includes a very user-friendly infotainment system.
