Racing Point, then Force India, in partnership with BWT launched one of the more polarising F1 liveries in 2017 and they have since persisted with the pink livery until the end of last year. They have now been rebranded as Aston Martin and this led to a firm belief among F1 fans that the team’s livery will undergo a makeover with the return of the brand’s famed British Racing Green colour. It was recently confirmed that BWT will continue as the team’s sponsor and team principal Otmar Szafnauer has now revealed if this means that they will persist with the colour pink in an official statement released on behalf of the team

I'm your host Dillon Shelley and first up on Formula World:

Is The 2021 Aston Martin Pink?

Otmar started off by confirming that BWT will continue their partnership with the team under its new name

“The people at BWT have been enormously loyal to the team and I am delighted that they have chosen to continue as a partner with Aston Martin”

He also explained their collective goals

“BWT will continue to support us in becoming more sustainable in all areas, but especially along the track. That's a goal Formula 1 itself has around sustainability”

“Our cooperation is very strong and our history is important as we enter a new era and I am looking forward to what we can achieve together”

He signed off by giving some insights on how this will affect the team’s livery that will be revealed next week

“On 3 March we will launch the new team, with a completely new base colour. Today's news does ensure that subtle BWT colours will feature alongside the BWT logo”

Mercedes’ technical director James Allison has revealed that they “have to allocate” their “resources so that” they “have a good season this year”

However, “at the same time” they “have to work on the future and prepare for the new regulations in 2022”

“That means working on everything within the budget, even before the first race of the 2021 season”

Red Bull team principal Christian Horner has confirmed that “it's the first time for” them “to bring a chassis to the next season, and because of the regulations a lot of parts will go with it”

“That is why it is more honest to call this car the RB16B. The next model for 2022 will be the RB18, so there will never be an RB17”

He added that “it is hard enough to make the leap to 2022, but the budget cap has made it harder for Mercedes, Ferrari and” Red Bull

As such, they “have to be very frugal with” their “money” as they “can't just run two programmes for 2021 and 2022 side by side”

“It will be interesting to see what kind of strategies teams choose, because the effect will be clearly visible in 2022. Everyone is starting from scratch”

Alfa Romeo’s Kimi Raikkonen is hoping that they “are better off than” they “were last year and” they’ll “get some idea in testing in a couple week’s time”

He also added that “in one month’s time in the first race” they’ll “really know where” they are

Raikkonen also reflected on how it has been 20 years since he made his F1 debut by stating that he “didn’t know that much of F1” back then

Even though he “had done some testing the year before, but most of the places were new”

He “just tried to learn and do the best that” he “could. It worked out okay”

Kimi further stated that he likes “the racing and the driving” but he has “never been a big fan of all the rest”

Alfa Romeo’s test driver Robert Kubica “could see some Polish flags in grandstands” last year even when “no spectators were allowed”

He finds it “incredible how Polish fans can find a way to show” him “their support

Red Bull reserve driver Alex Albon has confirmed that as his “main goal is to be in a Formula 1 car, so” he “would” be okay with driving for AlphaTauri

Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko thinks that “at the moment there is no racing going on, so” they “have to create tension with words”

However, “Mercedes is the clear favourite. They have won all the titles since the hybrid era”

“As for Aston Martin”, Marko doesn't “believe they will have a completely different rear end to Mercedes. The past has taught us that”

Do you still want to see some pink in the Aston Martin livery?
