Mitsubishi EVO X Wavetrac LSD Upgrade for a Tarmac Rally Car
Описание
Is the stock Torsen differential lacking performance and driveability? Unlock extra traction, grip and driveability with the unique Wavetrac Automatic Torque Biasing Limited Slip Differential (ATB LSD).
This particular customer has been wanting to upgrade from his factory Torsen, or ATB LSD for a while but didn't want to opt for the plate style locking differentials due to the frequent service required to maintain performance and the unfavourable locking attribute which can cause issues with low-speed turning performance in tarmac rally as well as tyre wear issues.
He also didn't want to upgrade to the commonly available ATB LSDs as they still have the same problem that the stock Torsen differential has. This is that they perform like a standard open differential when axle load is lost, this happens when cornering heavily (suspension unloading), wheel lift or wheel slip. When this happens ATB LSDs send power to the freely slipping wheel, just like the standard Torsen differential. To solve this the Wavetrac uses a patented "wave hub" assembly which generates internal load which allows it to continue to work in those conditions, improving performance and driveability.
The other problem the Wavetrac solves is a reduction in performance over time. Where the Torsen and other ATB LSDs run the pinons directly on the housings, which over time reduces friction inside the LSD, the Wavetrac uses lifetime warrantied carbon fibre bias plates. These bias plates create a consistent friction surface for the entire life (read lifetime warranty!) of the differential, meaning the Wavetrac will perform just as goon on mile 1 as it will in 100,000 miles!
