Well, what to say? Peugeot made a bold move when they throw this niche-car between the wolves of Audi and BMW (S4, M340i). Maybe they're right, because the remains of the great power-sedans of the past will be downsized cars with electric motors as boosters to get the power. For a short time until the electric ones takeover. And if we look at this way, it could be a step forward against those rivals.
But the 508 as a power sedan needs to be perfected. The hp (360) and the torque (520Nm) are there, but the engine lacks character, the noise it makes belongs to a 208, not a 508, the flappy paddles are so small, they are useless but anyway, it changes gears on up- and downshift, even when you pull them, so better leave the Aisin-auto alone. The ESP and the traction control cannot be switched off (the later only for a few secs), so the car is oversedated especially when you open the steering and want to accelerate out of the corner. And with more than 1900 kg's it puts a very big load and stress on the tyres and brakes (the ESP is working also).
But - to be honest - 99 percent of the customers will be satisfied with the result, the chassis is stiff, the steering is rapid so as the directional change.
It's PSE-s first car after a five years halt, and the most powerful Peugeot out there. With three motors, AWD and a 32 km fully electric range (45 according to WLTP) and low emissions (42g/km). With this great look and good dynamism it's a very nice effort and a good result for a first try.
But there is a space to improve.
