Repairing a Wrecked Car - Deer Damage
Описание
Do it yourself auto repair: fixing a 1999 Opel Astra front end damage gotten from a collision with a deer. At first it looked way worse than we thought - after all it was a proper crash. In closer inspection we saw that by changing a few parts it can be made drivable again. This car's body is still in great shape, it is almost rust-free which is a miracle itself in this salty part of the world and it has only 100K on the odometer - original mileage. So all in all - despite there is no tow hitch and it has no pickup bed nor proper cargo space one can still use it for commuting. We fixed it with my brother who brought in spare parts the same morning and by the evening we got it pretty much buttoned up but there was something we both didn't like - the paint job on the replacement hood, and it was rusty also. So my brother sanded the peeling lacquer and removed all the rust, and finally we painted it mat black since the original metallic green paint was a bit expensive. I've always wanted a car with a black "tuning" hood. Now we're only missing banded / widened steel rims painted white with nice low profile wide tires on. :)
