Women Have to Show They Are Equal

Following a comment made by Ferrari team boss Mattia Binotto stating that women should be in the FDA, 2019 F3 driver Sophia Floersch has spoken out heavily against the sentiment of his statement and said the following:

“What a discussion… Is this the spirit of modern people? As long as we are just marketing stuff in racing nothing will change. We have to show that we are equal. Proof of concept. Like Michele Mouton.”

And former F1 champion Damon Hill seemed to agree responding with the following:

“So providing places for women merely to level out the gender balance is not really helping, because places should be won on ability, not gender? Is that what you are saying Sophia? I tend to agree with you if your are saying that.”

2020 Could Be a Classic

Red Bull boss Christian Horner is excited for the prospect of a competitive season in 2020 and believes that it could be a season to remember.

“We’ve got continuity across all aspects of next year with drivers, with regulations, with engine supply, engine regulation, so unless somebody pulls a rabbit out of a hat, then I think we’re set for a really exciting year next year between, Mercedes, Ferrari, ourselves. And it could be a real classic season.”

"The changes between the 2019 and 2020 F1 seasons are very minimal that the performance levels of teams at the end of last year will more or less be replicated, even with a new car. You can’t gauge what others are doing. But hopefully, theoretically, the Melbourne [‘20] car will be an upgrade of the Abu Dhabi [‘19] car.”

Hamilton & Schumacher Dominated Because of Their Cars

2-time champion Fernando Alonso was recently asked about both Hamilton and Schumacher and while he believes that Lewis can win his 7th he thinks that Schumacher was more involved in the team side of things.

“Hamilton can win his seventh. But each have their own character. Both of them dominated because of their cars, which allowed them to do what they wanted outside of Formula 1.”

“Michael had more discipline and preparation. He was more into the team dynamics. Lewis has a different character and lifestyle that would not be right if he had a normal car. His bosses would not be happy.”
